Five Satpol PP Officers Fired for Extorting Street Vendors

The West Jakarta City Government fired five officers from the West Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) for extorting small traders. “I have fired five people for extortion because it involves small communities,” said Head of West Jakarta Satpol PP Tamo Sijabat, Friday, August 202 2021.
Tamo did not explain when and where the cases of illegal collection or extortion to street vendors occurred.
“The dismissal is a form of the City Government’s policy towards individuals who often make it difficult for small entrepreneurs or perpetrators of micro, small and medium business units.”
According to him, government officials should be present as servants, not even suppress and harm citizens. Especially in a pandemic situation which is actually difficult for the economy.
